Oy! Cleanse and Moisturise Product Review

Oy! Organic young no gunk natural 90% certified organic cleanser, makeup remover & moisturiser is currently my favourite facial product. I briefly reviewed it in my Caribbean holiday blog because it met my less-than-100-ml plastic baggy criteria however since I've now polished off the bottle I'm so in love that it deserves its own stand alone post!
The first reason why I love it? It's 3 products in one! You can apply it as a cleanser by massaging into the skin and wiping off with a tissue or I like to use a damp muslin cloth. As a moisturiser you can tap it onto the face and let the goodness absorb. When applied to a tissue and wiped across stubborn eye makeup, the remnants just melt off. After cleansing with Oy!, my face was so soft that I didn't find that I needed to use it as a moisturiser at the same time. However, after a good scrub, or mask, it did work nicely as a moisturiser.
Despite this product being geared towards the teens, I found it very balancing and kept me spot-free. Although recently turned 31, I'm not too proud to admit to getting spots while nevertheless feeling like it's totally unfair to have to deal with both spots and the start of 2 distinct lines on my forehead that stay there just a little too long after I've lowered my eyebrows.
The 50 ml bottle last me about 2 and a half months. Green tea and willow bark help to kill bacteria and reduce inflammation. Combined with mandarin, it smells light and fresh. Oy! Is certified with the Organic Food Federation, is suitable for vegans, and contains Fairly Traded Ingredients.
Along with the Oy! I was also sent another cleanser last year called Gentle Cleanse. This product saved my skin from a post-photo shoot breakout where the stylist used New <ID cosmetics on me. Now that my skin is used to the nice non-toxic stuff, it did not take too kindly to being pancaked to death with the synthetic crappy stuff. The result was splotchy, dehydrated skin with a few choice bright red spots. Nice. The Gentle Cleanse was just that – gentle! and helped cleanse my skin without further traumatizing my already raw skin. Within a month I was back to normal again. Phew problem solved.
I owe a lot of thanks to Green People founder Charlotte Vohtz because it was her book Naturally Gorgeous which started me on my natural beauty mission and ultimately the creation of this Natural Beautee blog. I was sitting in my homoeopath's office when I picked up the book and after reading only a few pages was galvanized to finding out as much as I possibly could about synthetic chemicals in personal care products and how to make healthy and safe alternatives. I really recommend you pick it up too.
