Yantra Mat Product Review

After seeing adverts and testimonials in a few places, I caved and purchased the Yantra Mat.  I've since seen a few spin-offs of the same thing.  The Yantra Mat is based on the concept of a bed of nails (believed to be used by ancient Yogis and Gurus for healing and meditation) so we think there is a long tradition of people laying on multiple pointy objects for health benefits.  The Yanta Mat uses plastic pointy bits (210 flowers with 42 calibrated points for a total of 8,820 acupressure contact points) and I'm not going to lie.  The first time I tried it, it was very painful.  I only lasted about 5 minutes, if that.  However, you do need to build up your tolerance.  Over a week period I built up each night to 15 minutes.

Herbert Ponting's 1907 photograph of "a fakir in Benares" (Varanasi, India)After using the Yantra Mat every night for a few weeks I noticed a propensity to want to fall asleep on it.  I'd come a long way from a few painful minutes to wanting to lay there for hours.  However, the best part is when I get up off the Yantra Mat.  I can feel all of my blood rushing around and it feels wonderful. I read testimonials where people felt that the Yantra Mat helped them sleep better or feel more invigorated.  For me the energy was more neutral.  I just plain felt better.  If I was going to sleep then it helped me relax before getting into bed.  If I was staying up to work on my aromatherapy homework then it helped me feel more alert.  Whatever mood I was going for, the Yantra Mat helped facilitate it.

What I liked the most about the Yantra Mat was that it added relaxation to my evening rituals.  I now download a meditation podcast and use my time on the Yantra Mat to meditate.  It's a very important part to my daily routine.
